Gooey German Chocolate Bars - ooey, gooey heaven in a pan! These things are SOOOO good!!! Coconut, pecans, german chocolate cake mix, cream cheese, butter and powdered sugar. Only takes a minute to make. The hardest part is waiting on the bars to cool!!! Great for Valentine's Day and summer potlucks!
I got this recipe from my Mom when we were down for the holidays. She said these Gooey German Chocolate Bars were great, so I decided to give them a try. OMG! She was right. These are CRAZY good!!! Coconut, pecans, chocolate cake filled with an ooey gooey filling of cream cheese, butter and powdered sugar.
These bars only take a few minutes to make. The hardest part about this recipe is waiting on the bars to cool. These are better after they have been baked, cooled and refrigerated for a few hours. We tried them warm and then cooled. We both preferred the bars after they had been in the refrigerator for a few hours. The flavors had time to come together and you could really taste the coconut and pecans.
These Gooey German Chocolate Bars would make a great treat for Valentine's Day! Chicken Legs has already requested them as his dessert. 💝

ingredients:
- 1 cup shredded sweetened coconut
- 1 cup chopped pecans
- 1 box German Chocolate cake mix, plus ingredients to make cake
- 1 (8-oz) package cream cheese, room temperature
- 1/2 cup butter, room temperature
- 1 (1-pound) box powdered sugar
instructions:
- Preheat oven to 350ºF. Grease and flour a 9x13-inch pan.
- Sprinkle coconut and pecans in bottom of prepared pan.
- Prepare cake mix according to package directions and pour over coconut and pecans.
- Mix together cream cheese, butter and powdered sugar with a hand held mixer. Pour over cake mix.
- Bake for 40 to 50 minutes. Allow to cool completely before cutting.
