The BEST Greek Chicken Salad
This Tzatziki Chicken Salad is seriously delicious! Homemade tzatziki tossed with chicken, romaine, tomatoes, pepperoncini peppers, Kalamata olives, and red onion. We had this for lunch and both absolutely loved it! It is packed full of flavor and pretty darn healthy too! What is Tzatziki?
Greek Tzatziki Sauce is a greek yogurt based sauce/dip with grated cucumbers, garlic, olive oil, salt, and pepper. Some recipes may also contain dill or mint. This Tzatziki Chicken Salad uses the recipe I got on my trip to Greece as the base. We ate at an amazing local Greek restaurant. Everything was farm to table. The owner was kind enough to share her recipe for Authentic Greek Tzatziki Sauce. I used that recipe for the tzatziki sauce in this recipe.
How to Make Tzatziki Chicken Salad with Greek Yogurt
This Tzatziki Chicken Salad is super simple to make. Start with making the tzatziki sauce. Next toss in the vegetables, feta cheese, and chicken. SO easy!
I used full-fat Greek yogurt so it would be nice and thick. Using low-fat or non-fat Greek yogurt will give the tzatziki sauce a loose texture.
To cut down on the prep time, I used some rotisserie chicken in this Tzatziki Chicken Salad. This would also be great with leftover grilled or baked chicken. You could even use canned chicken if you prefer.
How Long Will Tzatziki Chicken Salad Last?
I like to eat this Tzatziki Chicken Salad on the day I make it because of the romaine lettuce in the mixture. Lettuce tends to be really soggy after it has been tossed into a salad. If you want to make this in advance, add everything except the lettuce and refrigerate. Add the romaine lettuce right before serving. This will keep 2 or 3 days in the refrigerator.
What to Serve With Tzatziki Chicken Salad
We served this Tzatziki Chicken Salad with some Greek-Style Naan bread and olives. For the naan bread, I brushed it with some olive oil, then topped it with fresh garlic, dried oregano and a drizzle of honey. I baked it at 425ºF for a few minutes. SO good. This Tzatziki Chicken Salad is also great in a tortilla wrap. Here are a few of our favorite side dishes from the blog that go great with this Tzatziki Chicken Salad:
